The Best Camera... iPhone App

A friend at work (yeah you Stuart) showed me this iPhone app that is pretty cool, called The Best Camera (click the link to get to the app).

Let me explain the premise first. Chase Jarvis, a professional photographer, wrote a book called "The Best Camera Is The One That's With You". The title more or less explains it, but it's filled with a bunch of photos that he captured with his iPhone while on a trip to New York. He is trying to show that a good photo isn't always based on the highest resolution and most advanced cool looking focus gained by expensive lenses, but rather that the best camera to take a great shot with is sitting there in your pocket. It's message to me is, "don't wait 'till your good camera is with you, and don't run to your car to grab it, take that iPhone, cell phone, point and shoot camera out and grab the shot". You may be surprised in what you capture, and you will be impressed with what this professional photographer was able to grab with his iPhone.

So whip out your iPhone, download this app, and get snappin'.

The application provides a set of straight forward simple to use filters that allow you to: change contrast, create borders, vignettes, lighten, darken, and more to tweek your shots for submission to the "Best Camera" web site. You submit the photos you take right from your iPhone, after applying a some filters if you want. As well you can link and show off your pics straight to a number of sites such as Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, or to an email address. While in the app you can view others submissions, and vote on your favorites. Then on the site, the photo of the hour, day, week, and month are posted based on everyone's votes through the app (looks like they have a live feed on there now that shows real time submissions).

It's a fun way to see what you can capture, and post it into a light "contest-type" of environment to see how many views and votes you get on it. So....check it out yo.
